Meadowbanks Residential Care Home

Activity Programme

All residents are provided with the opportunity to engage and participate in activity which is purposeful and meaningful.

It is policy at Meadowbanks to ensure that all residents are provided with the opportunity to engage and participate in activity which is purposeful and meaningful, in a supportive and caring environment. The aim is to improve the resident’s level of independence, maximise their functional ability, confidence and self-worth.

We have an Activity Co-ordinator who is responsible for co-ordinating a variety of activities which meet the needs and requirements of residents and accommodates for individual tastes and interest. Relatives, friends and the local community are encouraged to participate in the Meadowbanks activities where appropriate. The Activity Co-ordinator will spend time with each Resident to identify their requirements in relation to activities.

Meadowbanks is a calm and tranquil home for residents and their families. Whilst we arrange activities, we understand that there are some residents who are happy to sit and admire the beautiful four acres of countryside around them. Binoculars are available for those who enjoy wildlife and bird watching. We also subscribe to M4D RADIO – ‘music for dementia.’ Find out more below, about types of activities and ways to keep busy, or not.

Getting Out and About

Links have been forged with the local community, including schools, churches, and places of worship. Where possible, trips will be made to local shops and to places of interest. Existing interests are encouraged, and new activities facilitated.

Taking Trips or Making Visits

We encourage our residents to spend time with their families, if the opportunity for a family day out or a holiday should arrive, we will do everything we can to support them.

It is usually best to consider light activities like getting out for a walk, playing music together, reminiscing or reading to each other. Find out more about visiting a loved one over on our visiting policy page or check out our garden room.

Freedom To Choose

We give residents the option of independence relating to their choice of daily activities. We believe that residents should have as much freedom as possible, whilst assuring that our expert team is on hand to support them whenever it is needed.
